On the morning of October 31, 2013, Villanova University Junior, Andrew Accardi, sadly passed away at the age of 20 after a 15-year battle with Neuroblastoma, a common pediatric cancer. Throughout his memorable life, Andrew continuously balanced his demanding classes and extracurriculars with an exhausting schedule of treatment and hospital visits. Andrew’s noble character is perhaps best displayed by his creation of Andrew’s Army in 2007, a charitable organization that has raised over $350,000 for pediatric cancer research. The organization has already contributed to medical breakthroughs in Neuroblastoma research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, one of the leading pediatric cancer research hospitals in the world, and the hospital that fought alongside Andrew for so many years.

Andrew’s passing has only motivated us to fight harder towards accomplishing his goal of making a difference in this world, and we are committed to expanding the foundation that Andrew began. Through various fundraising events that we are currently planning, we hope to generate enough money to help fund substantial advancements in the research for a cure for Neuroblastoma and other pediatric cancers.
