Hey everyone, there's a fundraising dinner for my Eagle Project at Noodles and Company on April 17th from 4-9 PM, and I would really appreciate it if you would come support me. All you have to do is mention Haven House, and a portion of your purchase will go to my project.

About This Cause

We have currently reached our goal of $2,398, but I would like to let you know that any further donations will be used to continue to improve the outdoor play area of Haven House.

I am a Boy Scout in Okemos Michigan, and I am currently working on my Eagle project. My goal is to replace the current play structure and refurbish the play area at Haven House. Haven House is a homeless shelter in East Lansing for families that provides emergency housing and support services for one-parent and two-parent families with children. The shelter helps families who are homeless prepare for permanent housing by developing and promoting self-sufficiency, stability, and financial responsibility. ( I first started volunteering at Haven House while working on my community service merit badge, and continued by buying birthday cakes with my family for children at the shelter. While volunteering, I noticed their outdoor play area was falling apart and thought it would be a good Eagle project. I talked with the Development Director, Jeannine Simpson and she said that the Haven House would be willing to let me assist them in replacing the play structure, as this improvement was something they planned to do for their 30th anniversary project. I have already raised over $1200, and would like to thank MPC Lumber, Target, Walmart, Lowe's, Okemos Auto Collection, Williams Auto World, Noodles and Company, Office Max, Rowe Stables, the Graham family, along with everyone else that donated.

The kids at Haven House deserve a safe and fun place to play, and I would provide this need for them. They will be able to spend more time outside and lead healthier lifestyles.

To complete the project I would need a complete play set ($2,398.00), ground cover (mulch, recycled tire, dirt), building materials, tools (level, hammer, wrench, screwdriver, saw sandpaper, rake, shovel, wheelbarrow), demolition tools (crowbar, saw, wheelbarrow, small dumpster), safety supplies (eye protection, gloves), snacks and beverages (food, cups, water, sun shelter).

To donate, you can donate through Paypal, or you can buy stationary through It Takes Two ( by using the coupon code "haven house project". By using this code, 40% of your order goes into fundraising for my project, and the rest goes to the company. If you would like to learn more about It Takes Two here is the link: ( At this point in time, there is no notification that the code has worked, but as long as there is no error message 40% will go to my project. I will also be doing a can drive, and if you are local and wish to donate cans, you can contact me and I will pick them up as soon as I can.

“Within five minutes, we set up a page on and we asked a couple of other alumni to send an email appeal with a link to our page to our fraternity brothers. It was only a matter of minutes before the donations started coming in. Within 48 hours, we had raised over $10,000.”
