About This Cause

At 28 weeks gestation, Christina was put on bed rest due to little to no amniotic fluid. Christina was under 24 hour monitoring to avoid a cord accident. While in utero, it was established that Jonah may not have lung function and was in kidney failure as a result of a blockage in his Posterior Urethral Valve. Our goal was to delivery at 34 weeks and or until he was 5 lbs 5 ounces so he can receive dialysis for his renal failure.
34 weeks and 3 days, On October 29,2013, Jonah Benjamin Greene was welcomed to the world, 6lbs 3oz, with 11 providers patiently waiting to stabilize him. He was born unable to breathe on his own. We watched as the NICU team helped our baby breathe and he was quickly taken to the NICU where he was put on life support, given two chest tubes, arterial IV's, feeding tubes and a foley catheter as they worked on stabilizing him for the next day and a half.
On October 31,2013 he was transported to Dell Children's Hospital where he was welcomed by a full staff of providers ready to continue his care and be begin procedures to lead up to his dialysis.
His diagnoses are complex and while some have improved, we are now left with a long road of medical issues .Some of which include daily peritoneal kidney dialysis, infections, surgeries, feeding tubes, numerous doctor's visits, home health, PT/OT, a bladder reconstruction and Kidney transplant. He has already endured 6 surgeries and multiple procedures . He spent a total of five months in the NICU. He was discharged on 3/31/14. Since his discharge we have been in the ER twice and were admitted to the IMC where he spent five days for observation and to stabilize him. In addition to medical bills, we have incurred a significant amount of cost with transportation ( 8 months of driving 80 miles a day). We spend our days at home trying to re-establish our family while trying to figure out Jonah and what all of his needs are. This has greatly impacted our family in ways one can never imagine. Jonah's NICU stay, current and future medical procedures will continue to incur medical expenses. Please contribute what you can to help support his journey. 100% of your contribution will go to Jonah's expenses to help the Greene family. Online donations can be made on this website and all donations are provided with a receipt. Be sure to follow his progress on FACEBOOK:https://www.facebook.com/jonahbenjaminsjourney

We would like to thank everyone for all the love, prayers, support, and contributions.

We are so thankful for our first private fundraiser given by some dear friends. And this weekend will be our first public fundraiser in Orange Grove, Texas, outside of Corpus Christi. Some of you have asked about the details of the fundraiser, so here is the info. It will be held from 12-3pm on Saturday April 27, 2014 @ Cowboy Church 1911 FM 624 Orange Grove, Texas They will be selling a plates, BBQ, chicken, rice and beans. All donations will be made to Jonah Greene's medical expenses, travel expenses and Kidney transplant. If you are unable to attend, you may make an electronic donation to this page. We will not be able to attend the fundraiser because he needs to stay close to his nephrologist and specialists. We are hoping in the fall, he will be more stable and willing to travel to Laredo, Corpus Christi, and Houston to meet his family and prayer warriors. We continue to be thankful that he is stable and not needing medical attention in the hospital. Thank you again for your prayers and contributions. God bless you and your family!
