About This Cause

As most of you know, Camille recently combated stage 2 breast cancer. She underwent chemotherapy treatment, surgery and radiation. With her positive attitude and support of you all, she was able to beat it. We have recently received some news that will require another dose of positive energy, prayers and more treatment. In late March, Camille’s oncologist confirmed Stage 4 cancer in her L4 (spine), 10th rib, and her right hip/pelvis.

Lindsay and Camille have decided to approach this diagnosis with conventional medical treatment, as well as a more holistic approach including a strict plant-based, vegan diet of organic food, daily supplements and naturopathic treatment. As you all can imagine, this will not be a small effort, nor will it be easy financially.

As you all know, Camille and Lindsay do not typically ask for help, but are always helping others. It is now time for them to be the recipients of all the aloha they have given so freely for years. They will need support in several ways: emotionally, spiritually, physically and of course in tangible ways (e.g., donations, purchasing groceries, vitamins, chemical-free products, gift cards to Whole Foods, Amazon, Costco).

Camille is clearly an extremely special human being, with her never-ending smile and beautiful outlook on life. Lindsay and Camille feel blessed to have you all on their team and truly appreciate all the love, support, and friendship.

Camille & Lindsay will be sending updates periodically through this page. (see below)

Aloha Everyone! It has been a whirlwind since I returned from my last trip to Arizona...I recently had scans once again and had a good report! NO NEW GROWTHS! I will take it! We continue to stay the course and focused...Steady wins the race! =) I am that turtle on the path. Haha! I did end up getting a bad cold while in Arizona so I was so thankful that Lindsay was with me on this trip because she was so incredibly helpful, as usual, and took amazing care of me. I became dehydrated and had to get hooked up to an IV, which made me feel like a champ after, but I was still definitely needing a few more days of recovery. Luckily we extended our trip a couple days, which ended up helping me recover so that I wasn't turning right around having to jump back on a plane. A couple weeks after being back at home, I went on a work trip to a Physical Education Conference in Boston. It was so rejuvenating to be amongst my colleagues as we learned together and shared our passion for teaching kids! We did endure some traveling technicalities (a storm coming through the East Coast) but eventually made it safe and sound. I was able to divert to New Haven, CT and spent time with family so that was a really nice surprise and got to experience my first snow day! =) It was a wonderful trip! Now I'm back and on Spring Break recuperating and getting focused for the home stretch of the school year. I will be signing off of the DonationTo page. Your extreme generosity has gone a long way in helping with my cancer journey. I want to THANK YOU ALL from the bottom of my heart for your continued love, support, and friendship. As I've said before, I am so blessed to have such an amazing TEAM to back me and be with me throughout all that is given to me in life. I love you all and continue to look forward to all that is ahead. Love you all!!! Camille & Lindsay

Aloha friends & family, This recent trip up to CTCA wasn’t just that...it was more. We took advantage of the three day Veterans’ Day holiday weekend and added a fun weekend in Phoenix prior to scans and doctors appointments. Because we don’t have professional sports here in Hawaii, I always like to try to see a game or two when on the mainland. This time we were able to tac on an NHL game (Coyotes vs. Bruins), which I have never had a chance to do and has always been on my to do list; and a Cardinals vs. 49ers game, which was the first professional NFL game Lindsay and I attended together. Huge bucket list items for me! I was stoked!!! We had a great time with the action of the game & the fanatic fans...We got to experience it all! And the Cardinals pulled out a win in a close game! =) Another win for us was receiving exciting news from my oncologist after getting follow up CT and bone scans. The scans showed no new lesions! There was significant decrease in activity in my 10th rib and some shrinkage in my L4. The lesions in my right hip are unchanged and stable. We will continue to keep on doing what we’re doing (oncology meds, plant-based diet, naturopathic treatments, positive thoughts, planning our future, etc.) and fight the fight! Thank you all for your continued love and support! Again, we are so blessed to have you all in my corner! Love you all!!! Camille & Lindsay

Aloha all, Sorry it's been awhile since we have given an update; the school year is in full swing and days seem to fly by! We are happy to have positive news to share! Most recent scans (August) show that there are no new cancer progressions and the current locations of the cancer shows less "intensity". Our team of doctors said to continue doing what we're doing! As we have found it is always important to get a second opinion and to build a team of the best doctors possible, we got back this past Thursday from the consult at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and it went really well. Dr. Linden, a breast cancer specialist, shared more about possible treatments options if current treatment stops working. She does agree with current treatment and recommends staying on it as long as possible. Beyond that, she does recommend that I have my ovaries removed as a precaution to them spontaneously creating estrogen again. Dr. Linden will send her notes/recommendation to my current oncologist, Dr. Lynch, and we can discuss the possible surgery when we see her next. We couldn't keep up with it all if not for your continued encouragement, love & support! Mahalo nui loa! We hope to see you soon; come on over to watch some Sunday football and enjoy a delicious, plant-based game day meal with us! All our love, Camille and Lindsay
