James is just like any other two year old boy; he loves to play and run around and tag along with his big sisters; he loves fishing and the beach and riding in the truck .July 17, 2013, James went into respiratory distress, he was treated for that and he had an x-ray which is commonly done after respiratory distress. The x-ray showed an abnormal mass. We were scheduled for a CT scan, almost two weeks after the initial "Attack", the CT showed negative results, we thought we were in the clear. What we were truly looking at was James's cancer. James has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia subtype T or T-Cell ALL.

As James' Aunt I want to make sure after insurance that he and his Mom and Dad have money for any extra expenses that they may encounter over the next several years. James will receive three years of aggressive treatment and must be in remission for five years after that to be considered cured! This is a long time and can become very expensive. I don't want the family to have to worry about missed days of work, gas, etc. when their whole focus needs to be on taking care of James and his sisters.

First and foremost James needs your prayers and love. Please keep him in your thoughts. I started this page to make sure that James and his parents never have to worry about gas money to get to and from treatment which will be 100 miles round trip from his home.

As you know cancer is expensive and the hospital where James is receiving treatment is 100 miles round trip from his home. We have set our original goal at $8,000 with the date ending on James's 3rd birthday. We will change this goal every year, with the new goal date being James's following birthday. We intend on him having many, many more and this is how we will honor that belief. When James is to be hospitalized, Jessica(mom) will be staying with him around the clock, Jimmy(dad) will be leaving from the hospital to go to work and returning again at the end of the day. His big sisters will rotate staying with family and close family friends. All of these back and forth adds up quickly and is hard on everyone. Raising money to help cover these costs will reduce financial stress cancer can cause on entire family. I would like to say thank you for all of your prayers and generous support!

James's ANC has dropped even lower and now is less than 200. Which means he is on lock down at the house :( Moonshine Festival is in town this weekend, which means lots of business for our little town and LOTS of strangers. James will be locked up tight at the house. Pray we all don't go stir crazy! The doctor said not to recheck his counts next week and to just bring him to his next scheduled appointment in two weeks. He will receive IV chemo and the IVIG therapy and his counts will be rechecked at the clinic. Praying for no fevers during this time so that we can stay out of the hospital! Thank you all for your continued prayers and support!

The nurse called us yesterday after the meeting with the DR. James does not have enough of the IgG protein in his body so he will need to receive an IVIG therapy(an iv treatment to boost the protein level). This protein is a part of the immune system and helps to fight infections in the body. James will continue to receive antibiotics even though they may reduce his ANC even more. With low counts and a major part of his immune system not working properly they want him to stay on the antibiotics. With cold and flu season upon us and all the other viruses that have been going around we fear that he will catch something. Well, he is waking up and it is almost time for his "pinch". I just wanted to get an update in while I had a chance. Thank you for all of your continued prayers and support!
