About This Cause

It has been recommended by Nicholas' doctors that he slow down. Due to the progression of his Cystic Fibrosis, he has been instructed to seek social security disability and reduce his hours at work to 15 a week.
This will decrease his physical strain and increase his ability to do preventative care at home.
To do this he will need to apply for the benefits and that process can only be done after his work hours have been reduced and the process often takes 5 to 9 months. It is those 5 to 9 months that we are trying to cover. During that time Nicholas will need to cover $2,350 in monthly personal and medical bills. He will also need to cover $500 a month for a year and a half for medical bills till he is covered by Medicare 24 months after the application is submitted. The total for this could be as high as $28,150.
While this might be a difficult process Nicholas trusts in the Lord and is hopeful in the kindness and charity of friends and family. Thank you for your consideration of him and his family during this transition.

I have been approved for benefits and am working part time from home during the pandemic. I hope the pandemic ends so that I can feel comfortable returning to parish life as a Deacon. I haven't assisted at mass since March 11th 2020. I fear a second round could happen and because I am so vulnerable I don't know when life can return to "normal"

My name is Nicholas Moragues.
I'm a father, a husband and I'm a deacon at my church.
I also have cystic fibrosis which is a genetic chronic illness of the lungs. While this is often a disease that can prevent patients from being active even from childhood I have had the opportunity to follow my dreams of education, family, faith and work. I've been able to work for my church in religious education for years and have a wonderful family; all of which isn't always possible for CF patients. I am blessed!
