About This Cause

After years of steroid use due to autoimmune disease severely triggered by an accident for which the case never settled (Otis Elevator,) I have bone death in my shoulders, hips and left femur. I have tried stem cells and core decompression surgery in my hips but it was too late. Thus, just today I had my right hip. We were very nervous about the outcome but SO FAR so good. There may be still be a chance to save my shoulders but I will need to pay a significant copay. As well I will need help with care for a while as my mother is disabled: she just broke several bones too. There is still much that needs to be done to keep me on the road to recovery and every bit helps tremendously. The food news is that the stem cell and other treatments I’ve had so far have made a significant impact on my health. I have been seizure free, almost no heart issues, and more. Being “cured” is still on my radar!! Thank you so much to all for your loving support along this challenging journey! ❤️

Stem cell treatment is very expensive and more will be needed. In addition to the avascular necrosis I now must treat for pulmonary hypertension, which is a dangerous and terminal manifestation of scleroderma.

Dearest Kerry, I can totally identify with your struggles. I was an active member of the LA singer community when I was diagnosed with MS 21 years ago and had to drop out. Two years ago both my sisters died -- one from ALS and my little sister from scleroderma. She had the opportunity to have a bone marrow transplant, but chose not to until it was too late and she was too weak. I pray you have a successful one and can begin turning your health around. I am sending you love and prayers.
