1. To create affordable, non-profit, limited equity, cooperatively owned and resident controlled housing;2. To establish, in the Bay Area, an Elder friendly, multi-generational community, in order to foster mutual support and development;3. To provide education training and technical assistance for housing cooperative communities.
BACLT is committed to developing affordable, resident controlled cooperative housing for low and moderate income households and to educating and training of housing cooperative residents for home ownership and self-management. In the past year, we have developed an extensive training program and begun outreach to new and existing housing co-ops to provide this essential resource. BACLT worked with two new groups seeking to purchase their multi-family buildings as co-ops and provided extensive support and training. In the coming year, we will continue to work with these two groups, as well as work with several new groups. In addition, we will continue to provide educational events for the public and decision makers about housing cooperatives and community land trusts as a strategy for creating affordable home ownership and to encourage the development of more housing cooperatives
