Global Family Village (GFV) is dedicated to improving the lives and outcomes of orphaned and vulnerable children. GFV empowers communities to transform existing orphanages into family based homes supported by community-specific programs using a sustainable, replicable approach.

GFV believes that the single most important element in creating a sustainable program and systemic social change is the community. GFV collaborates closely with the community as primary stakeholder and implementer and only partners with communities where they are invited. This has been an exciting year for GFV and our partner, the Cooperative Society of Bungamati (CSB)! Together we: Welcomed six new orphans in the Bungamati Family House. Conducted workshops and trainings on Early Childhood Development (ECD). Three young, untrained, village women were trained and hired to teach in the program. Enrolled 45 children in a thriving ECD program. Developed the Home Stay Program as an income generating initiative whereby local villagers learned how to prepare their homes for tourist visits. In the coming year we plan to: add a new family to the Bungamati Family House. Implement new income-generating programs, such as an organic kitchen garden, and establishing a local cafe gallery.  These programs will benefit the community, increase visibility for tourism and their crafts, all of which will contribute to the success and sustainability of the community-based and supported program. Establish new partnerships in collaboration with the Central Child Welfare Board and other community-based organizations in Nepal.
