SPIN's mission is "To guide Orange County's homeless and working poor families and individuals to permanent housing, substance abuse recovery and self-sufficiency".

Summary of Impact

SPIN has seen a 65% increase in the demand for its programs and a 40% increase in the number of people walking in looking for helthose who would not be homeless, but for the economy, the loss of a job and the inability to find new employment at a salary level equal to previous employment.  Consequently, mortgages have gone unpaid, car payments are in arrears, savings are depleted, etc.  This population is made up of friends, neighbors, former donors and volunteers.    SPIN operates with a small staff and 94% of the funds raised go directly to our clients.  In this economy, with the need so great, we are committed to maintaining the case managers to work with our clients and administrative staff has accepted addtional responsibilites in order to make this possible.
