Childs-pace began in 1978 as a center-based child-care program to benefit school-age children from moderate or low-income families. Childs-pace provides a safe and enriching environment where chldren are encouraged to express themselves through theater, music, arts, crafts and sports. Chlds-pace also addresses academic needs by providing help with homework and access to educational materials. Childs-pace supports the development of positive self-image in each child and awareness of others' rights and needs. At Childs-pace, children and their families learn to become valued and contributing members of their community. All members of each family-whether parent, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or cousins-constitute an integral part of the program.
