Through outreach, engagement, education and advocacy, to empower and support the West Fresno community to achieve optimal health and well being.

West Fresno Health Care Coalition has demonstrated its expertise and capacity to perform the tasks necessary to meet its stated goals. This is evidenced by the several grants it has obtained from government, corporate and private foundation sources. WFHCC has used these funds to reach out and effect the lives of thousands through its work in advocacy, health education, outreach, screening and referral services in areas such as car seat safety, prenatal care, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), HIV, breast and prostate cancer, sickle cell disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, proper nutrition and physical activity. The staff members of WHFCC who are Certified Application Assistors have assisted uninsured families in Southwest Fresno to obtain the health care they need by helping them to seek out and become enrolled in health insurance coverage that fits their particular needs. Additionally, WFHCC sponsors prevention education, community events and participates in local health fairs as well as actively collaborates with partners in advocacy and policy issues impacting the community. As a collaborative partner, WFHCC supports the work of the Cultural Broker Family Advocate program by providing space, use of office furnishings, shared costs for related office expenses, and continues to serve as the fiscal agent providing fiscal management and oversight.  The effectiveness of West Fresno Health Care Coalition can be seen through the numerous collaborative partnerships it has developed with community-based, health, government, business, educational and faith based organizations. It is currently working with Clinica Serra Vista, Fresno Career Development Institute, West Fresno Boys and Girls Clubs, Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries, Centro bi nacional, Fresno County Maternal and Child Health, HealthNet, Black Infant Health Leadership Coalition, Blue Cross of California, Diabetes Care Center, The California Cancer Center, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, Fresno Health Consumer Center and the California Health Collaborative-Women's Health Partnership, and many others.
