Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment in which to connect day workers and employers with dignity. In addition, we strive to empower day workers and improve their socio-economic condition through fair employment, education, job skills training, and community service. The Center also supports advocacy efforts on issues that affect day workers.

Homeowners,, seniors, and many small businesses need casual day labor. Immigrant day laborers desperately need work, orientation to American society, English classes and job training, medical and legal support services, and a community to counter the extreme stress and isolation they experience.The DWCMV makes the match between day laborers and employers a �win-win� situation. The Center guarantees that employers receive the best service by calling for worker evaluations, and that workers receive fair pay and decent working conditions. We offer English As A Second Language classes six days a week (eighteen hours weekly), and bilingual leadership opportunities and job skills training, including a Workers� Commission that sets the rules for Center operations, and worker representatives on our Board of Directors. Day workers participate as volunteers in extensive community service projects, including hosting and donating at blood drives; CPR, First Aid and Emergency Response training; and volunteer work for the Senior Gardens and local schools and places of worshithe most vulnerable workers in our economy, receive legal and medical services and referrals, including collecting unpaid wages for workers who have contracted work on the streets. Center worker representatives implement a Community Outreach program to educate workers on the street about their rights and responsibilities.
