The Armed Services YMCA San Diego enhances the lives of service members and their families in mind, body, and spirit through programs and services that are relevant to the unique challenges of military life.

Top 3-5 Accomplishments: Program Participation--overall program participation continues to increase each year as we continue to reach the growing number of military families in San Diego. We provide more than 9,000 point-of-service to military families each month. Collaboration--May 2011 marked the two year anniversary of our Neighborhood Exchange program, a partnership with the San Diego Food Bank. This monthly food distribution program responds to the increased financial burdens on San Diego military families. The distribution site serves two zip code areas and also provides networking, socializing, and connecting to additional resources. We maintain partnerships with over 60 local organizations to increase outreach to military families and impact of services. Fiscal Responsibility--the American Institute of Philanthropy gave the Armed Services YMCA an A rating which places the San Diego ASYMCA among the most fiscally responsible military charities in the nation. We have received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for 6 years in a row. �This �exceptional� designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Armed Services YMCA from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.� - Charity Navigator Honors. In 2012, the San Diego County Grand Jury commended ASY San Diego as providing exemplary services to active duty military in the San Diego Area. In 2009, the San Diego Armed Services YMCA was selected by the San Diego Military Advisory Council to receive its Achievement Award for contributions to improving the quality of life for military members and their families. Top 3-5 Goals: expand outreach to underserved, military-concentrated areas; expand Corporate Partner Member Program to engage more local businesses in supporting military families through annual donations; transition from paper to online database system to enhance data collection, volunteer tracking, donor management, and program evaluation.
