The Law Library Justice Foundation exists to further legal knowledge and promote justice for the people of San Diego County. To fulfill these goals, trustees of the Foundation dedicate themselves to support the San Diego County Public Law Library by helping to raise money to benefit the Law Library. Our Mission: The Foundation shall promote charitable contributions and endowments for the benefit of the Law Library.
The Law Library Justice Foundation is the fundraising arm of the San Diego County Public Law Library the description of the agencies function, board, capacity and resources refer to the San Diego County Public Law Library (SDCPLL). The SDCPLL (Law Library) is a resource that assists the economically disadvantaged citizens who may feel intimidated or helpless in the face of various legal dilemmas. The law library receives questions daily from local residents; some facing layoffs, foreclosures, repossessions, hostile workplaces, sexual harassment, scam artists, and legal penalties. All are desperately looking for answers to their legal entanglements. The Law Library offers them complete access to the same essential legal resources used by attorneys at large legal firms. Additionally, the Law Library offers free workshops and classes addressing issues relevant to peoples daily lives on topics such as Divorce, Domestic Violence, Civil Harassment/ Restraining Orders, Youth Services /Guardianship, Child and Family Support, Unlawful Detainers, Evictions and Foreclosures, Tax Clinics for the low income, how to conduct legal research online and in books, how to fill out legal common forms and many, many others. The Law Library is the center of legal research in San Diego County. For example, last year the Law Library: Hosted over 110 outreach and education programs that were attended by over 115,000 people. Will provide 180 classes and Legal Education events in 2013. Hosted programs attended by over 1,800 people at the Downtown branch alone Librarians answered 50,000 patron inquiries. Visitors used over 73,000 books. The Downtown branch received almost 115,000 visitors. Resources free to public: The largest print collection of law books and legal materials available in the county. Electronic resources, including Westlaw and Lexis. Legal education and general education programs. Reference librarians, most of whom hold JDs work with patrons
