Our mission is to support the independence and well-being of seniors. Meals-on-Wheels Greater San Diego, Inc., is committed to providing healthy meals to homebound seniors so that no senior goes hungry. We strive, as well, to reduce the isolation experienced by so many elderly. Our meals are delivered to seniors� homes by volunteers. Frequently the volunteer may be the only person the senior sees all day, providing human contact and a safety net, particularly for those seniors living alone.   We serve San Diego County�s diverse and growing senior population by providing healthy, well-balanced meal menus providing our seniors variety as well as choice while they receive the nutrition they need to stay healthy.

Fiscal Year 2011 ended Sept 30th and we are proud to have accomplished some very important goals: Provided over 350,000 meals for more than 2,200 seniors Founded the Visionary Philanthropy Group for young professionals, enlisting a younger group of philanthropists in the Meals-on-Wheels cause Created the Junior Street Team- youth ages 8-18 who help plan and �man� fundraising events Founded Meals-on-Wheels University�a college-level nutrition internship focusing on geriatric nutrition We were also awarded the MOWAA/Walmart Vision Grant to help develop an effective methodology for developing new meal menus in response to rapidly changing tastes and dietary needs.
