Community Housing Partnership (CHP) creates, implements, and demonstrates solutions to homelessness in San Francisco by working in partnership with people who would otherwise be without a home. CHP develops and operates high quality permanent affordable housing, integrating optional support services, job training and community organizing. We strive to break the cycle of homelessness by strengthening community, encouraging self-determination and involving tenants in every aspect of the organization.
In recent years, Community Housing Partnership achieved the following:. Began construction of Rene Cazenave Apartments, 120 new units that will house formerly homeless individuals and households in San Francisco's Transbay Redevelopment Area. Opened Drs. Julian & Raye Richardson Apartments, a 120-unit new construction in San Francisco's Hayes Valley neighborhood that is now home to 120 formerly homeless adults with disabilities. Re-branded our social enterprise, Solutions SF, as part of a planned expansion of our workforce development activities, in order to offer more employment opportunities to our residents. Opened Zygmunt Arendt House, a 47-unit new construction now home to formerly homeless seniors. Opened Arnett Watson Apartments, an 83-unit building home to 36 individuals and 47 families, all of whom were previously homeless. Started the Treatment And Supportive Housing program, an intensive substance abuse and mental health treatment program to assist tenants who struggle with those issues. In the current year, we will accomplish the following: Begin rehabilitation of a 24-unit property in San Francisco's Marina district for youth exiting the foster care system and at risk of homelessness. Begin rehabilitation of the Cambridge Hotel, 60 units of supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals. Continue to offer services and programs to ensure that 98 percent of our tenants retain permanent housing. Hire from the community so that over 50 percent of our 220 employees are formerly homeless. Invest in employment programs so at least 75 percent of tenants seeking jobs find work. Offer housing and services to nearly everyone we screen. Develop new leaders by involving tenants and line staff in all aspects of the work we do. Organize our tenants, staff and community to promote policies that will end homelessness.
