Senior Access' mission is to provide programs and services that enhance the quality of life and independence of older adults.
Since its inception in 1973, Senior Access has served over 5,000 frail and vulnerable older adults and their families. Participating in Senior Access programs may slow the progression of the disease; reduce anxiety, depression and fall risk; prevent nursing home placement and emergency room visits; and improve nutrition, hydration and cognitive functioning. In 2010, Senior Access provided programs and servies to 157 clients; 66 older adults with dementia received 3,497 days of person-centered care, lively comradarie and therapuetic activities while 91 family caregivers received 17,605 hours of respite. Senior Access provided information and referrals and outreach to nearly 2,000 Marin residents. In addition, the agency hosted 280 volunteer and student intern days, 12 Caregiver Support Groups, 1 Family Social and 8 Caregiver Educational Workshops. Senior Access subsidized 623 days of attendance and 3,115 hours of caregiver respite to low, very low and extremely low income clients through The Senior Access Scholarship Fund.
