LHA assists in improving the quality of life and health of uninsured, under-served people through quality preventive services and educational programs, emphasizing full participation in decisions affecting health.

In 2010, Latino Health Access continues to work on quality of life and access to health care issues via its strong team of community health workers/promotores such as: breast health promotion, obesity, physical activities, mental health, older adult health, children's and youth health, women's health, diabetes self management, and systems change through creating more open space for physical activity and improving environmental conditions that will have a strong impact on the health status of low-income Latino families served by LHA.   In 2011, in addition to continued advancement through the core programs listed above, LHA will expand its role as a business and business leader.  By late fall 2010, the agency will relocate to its own building in the heart of downtown Santa Ana, CA.  This new location, with double the amount of space, will allow for the expansion of services to clients, provide the platform for LHA to create a one-stop service center with critical health and human services, create a community resource center where community members can drop in for health education, research political actions to improve health or to take a computer class.  Also, 5 blocks up the street from the new office there will be a LHA Park and Community Center.  Construction begins in November 2010 and will conclude mid-year 2011.    Another special aspect of Latino Health Access' work in 2011 is its role as the hub agency for the Santa Ana Building Healthy Communities initiative.  Elected for a term of 2 years in July 2010, LHA will support the Steering Committee to engage residents of Santa Ana to share in the creation of a vision for a healthy community as well as participate in strategies to make that vision a reality over the 10 years of funding provided by The California Endowment.
