The GRAMMY Foundation was established to cultivate understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music on American culture -- from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the future generations of music professionals.
The past fiscal year for the GRAMMY Foundation included numerous highlights for our GRAMMY in the Schools music education programs for high school students and schools. We hosted our seventh annual GRAMMY Camp in Los Angeles and our first ever GRAMMY Camp New York that combined to offer this immersive summer music industry experience to 111 campers from 93 cities and 34 states across the United States. Higher than budget revenues allowed us to grant the largest number of GRAMMY Signature Schools awards in recent history, with 36 U.S. public high schools receiving this recognition. This number includes the Enterprise Award category for economically underserved schools, in which we have announced the largest number of recipients in the GRAMMY Foundation's history with 27 schools selected for this honor. Our preservation and advancement programs remain strong, including our Grant Program, which initially awarded $100,000 in grants to help facilitate a range of research, archiving and preservation projects on a variety of subjects to 11 recipients in the United States, Canada and the Dominican Republic; and due to increased revenues, allowed us to increase awards to eight original recipients and make three new grant awards. Our annual 13th annual Music Preservation Project, which this year focused on the evolution of Hip-Hop, played to a packed house during GRAMMY Week and featured live musical performances and historical footage from preservation archives. The GRAMMY Foundation has significantly increased our corporate partnerships and Board diversification. In addition, the GRAMMY Foundation and our sister Foundation Musicares were awarded "One Of The 50 Best Nonprofits To Work For" by the Nonprofit Times, and both Foundations launched intern programs for college and graduate students.
