Our organization grew out of a need to find homes for the increasing population of Basset Hounds in shelters. We also assist with re-homing Bassets from one family to another. The organization is staffed entirely by volunteers who make up a huge network of individuals throughout Southern California.
BHRSC has been increasingly affected by the economic condition and as a result has been aiding a record number of families who have had to surrender their Bassets to us for re-homing. We continue to successfully re-home owner surrendered Basset Hounds, this is in addition to the Bassets that we rescue from area shelters. We are proud to be a part of West Coast Broad - a coalition of Basset Rescues in California insuring that no Basset is left behind in any shelter.
