The mission of Regional Substance Abuse Prevention Partners (RSAPP) is to bring together, in a collaborative effort, prevention coalitions and community organizations in southwest Colorado to facilitate regional substance abuse prevention through the Strategic Prevention Framework, including needs assessment, capacity building, planning, implementation and evaluation.

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit Substance use and abuse is a driving force behind many community problems. It can cause health problems, lack of school or workplace success, domestic violence, and crime. RSAPP gets at the root of this issue by working to reduce substance abuse among southwest Colorado�s youth. RSAPP supports effective community-based prevention strategies by providing AmeriCorps members, tools, training, resources and support to community organizations and schools. The regional approach introduces an economy of scale in our rural region. RSAPP�s team of AmeriCorps members work to ensure that kids are engaged in school and healthy out-of-school activities, youth are valued members of the community, and families feel supported and able to support their children. We are starting to see results: Healthy Kids Colorado Survey results from middle schools and high schools throughout the region show trends of 5-13% decreases in binge drinking, 30-day use of alcohol, easy access to alcohol, teen drinking and driving, and prescription drug misuse.
