The purpose of this Association is to improve lives of all in Central Florida by connecting individuals, families and communities with opportunities based in Christian values that strengthen Spirit, Mind and Body.

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit The YMCA of Central Florida supports its communities with neighborhood-based services which annually impact the lives of more than 230,000 residents. Through the dedicated efforts of its 27 Family Centers and 50+ school site locations, the Y's 1,700 employees and 6,380 volunteers provide youth development, healthy living and family support programs in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake, Brevard and Marion counties. Specifically in 2012, the Y provided $5.7 million to operate 11 outreach Ys serving economically-challenged neighborhoods so children and families have a safe and secure place for health, social and educational-support programs. Another $5.4 million in financial assistance was given to 53,960 residents to enabling youth to participate in year round Y-quality, adult supervised academic and wellness activities, swim safety classes, youth sports and values-based child development programs. Through its focus on supporting families, the Y last year prides itself on reducing family stress by providing quality drop-in care for more than 2,200 children per day in our 20 Y child development centers. Another 73,000 youth were enrolled in the Y team sports, summer camp and teen leadership activities. For the year 2013 the Y's top goals are:1. To fund and operate 20 new Summer Learning Camps in communities where lower income working families need an affordable, safe and healthy learning environment for their elementary and middle school age children while school is out. These school-based camps will focus on closing the summer reading achievement gap and stemming childhood obesity while taking an additional 2,000+ kids out of unsupervised environments. 2. To fund and enroll an additional 100 at-risk teenagers in our Teen Achievers program for year round academic, college entrance and career mentoring by volunteer graduates of the 20-year program. 3. To further stabilize the operations and programs of our 11 YMCA Family Centers serving the region's most fragile communities where working and single parent families cannot afford services.
