Impact Summary from the Nonprofit Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW) is a Community Impact United Way and is widely recognized for bringing community leaders and stakeholders together to help address the Central Florida community's most critical needs. The visionof HFUW is to engage all citizens to work together to build healthy, safe, caring, and strong communities. Since 1939, Heart of Florida United Way has assisted millions of Central Floridians in need and continues to touch the lives of all ages. Notable accomplishments and/or recognition include: -Four-Star rating from Charity Navigator for Fiscal Accountability, the highest rating, earned only by one in four organizations -Five consecutive years of growth in workplace campaigns -Largest 2-1-1 Information and Referral Call Center in Florida - (out of 22 centers, answering 17% of all the calls to 2-1-1 in the state) -Selected as a demonstration site by the U.S. Department of Education for the HFUW Inter-Faith School Turnaround Project, recruiting mentors and tutors for Title One school students in a targeted area of Orlando - the national initiative, ""Together for Tomorrow"" was launched from Orlando at one of the participating schools. The primary goal of HFUW is to empower the Central Florida community to help bring about critical changes -- to strengthen families, enhance education to increase graduation rates, and to facilitate economic growth and healthier lifestyles. Through Community Investment work with community leaders and issue-experts, Investing in Results initiatives support programs that align with guidelines and evidence-based program models related to Education, Income and Health, specifically the community's top four priority areas identified in a tri-county needs assessment: Building Safe Communities Through EducationImproving Financial StabilityDeveloping Healthy Children and FamiliesAlleviating Hunger and Homelessness
