Mission Statement: The Quest Team, through quality and innovation, builds communities where people with disabilities achieve their goals. Quest inspires and empowers Central Floridians with disabilities by offering choices and opportunities to learn, live, work and play. Through Quest's comprehensive family of services, children and adults imagine and achieve their full capabilities. Quest helps people with disabilities as young as 15 months to well over the age of 80 achieve their dream of going to school, having a job, living on their own, and experiencing summer camp. The roots of Quest can be traced to the Central Florida Sheltered Workshop (founded in 1962) and Life Concepts. In 1994, these organizations merged to combine resources and serve a greater number of individuals with disabilities. Our 50 years of experience has shown us that training and quality care provides self-reliance for these children and adults, helping them find independence and hope. Since its inception, Quest has touched the lives of thousands of people with unique needs. Our focus has always been on the person, not the disability. With nearly 166,000 individuals impacted by a disability in Central Florida alone, our vision and our mission have never been more important or relevant. Now at more than 25 locations in Orlando and Tampa, Quest continues to build communities where people with disabilities can achieve their goals. Our 50-year history is just the beginning.
Impact Summary from the Nonprofit A Charting Impact Report consists of an organizationís responses to the five questions. Helping validate this self-reported data are three reviews. Once an organization has used the online interface to complete its report, its responses will produce a document with a unique URL that will be shared on this website, on your GuideStar profile, on the reports of charities participating in BBB Wise Giving Alliance evaluations, and Ė in the future Ė with other websites and information sources about nonprofits. We encourage organizations to use this URL to share their report on their own website and through their own media channels. Participants will receive guidance about promoting their Charting Impact Report, along with other benefits, once they publish their report. Quest remains proud of the numbers of lives we have touched in Central Florida and beyond. Our programs continue to serve over 1,100 individuals annually. Quest educational services (Quest Kids therapy program, Quest Kids Academy, and the Quest managed Florida Autism Center of Excellence/FACE in Tampa) served over 350 children with developmental disabilities. The employment/vocational programprovided training, support, and placement to over 450 adults. Our residential program (including intermediate care facilities, group homes, and transitional living programs) supported more than 300 adults in Florida. Quest's Camp Thunderbird saw the largest attendance numbers to date, with over 500 children and adults enjoying a summer camp experience. Quest Shreds continues to expand, and is currently awaiting NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) certification. In September of 2012, the Dr. P. Phillips Foundation provided Quest with a substantial grant to implement an organizational-wide electronic datamanagement system. This will provide staff with easy, updated (yet secure) access to client medical information, beneficial since many clients are involved in multiple programs. This system will allow for immediate update of profile information and elimination of handwritten records, while reducing the cost and storage of paper files. Paperless medical records are a federal requirement for 2014, and this grant allows Quest to begin the transition now. During the past year, Quest received several other awards and accolades, including the Bob Allen Outstanding Community Service Award given by the Disney Helping Kids Shine grant. Funds were used to create a digital media class for children with autism to develop computer skills. Project SEARCH, the school-to-work transition program for students in their last year of high school eligibility, won three awards for outstanding employment outcomes, one for each of our sites, at the national Project SEARCH conference. Four employees were recognized for their achievement in job placement for individuals with disabilities.
