AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING VOLUNTARISM, DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF WOMEN AND IMPROVING COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE ACTION AND LEADERSHIP OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS. ITS PURPOSE IS EXCLUSIVELY EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE.
Impact Summary from the Nonprofit In the 2011-2012 Junior League year we had 488 women volunteers donate over 1,000 hours by partnering with 19 different organizations in the Sarasota Community to positively impact over 32,000 lives. These partnerships included YEA -Youth Experiencing Art with Ringling College, the Career Readiness Program with Children First and Oak Park School - We Work Laboratory. These programs required not just our financial support but a year long commitment of volunteer time by our members. Current year goals: 1. Expand DIAD - Done in a Day - projects with focus on community and nutrition. Work with other non-profits which utilize JLS volunteers and some money to complete a project for the non-profit organization.2. Stabilize JLS fundraising initiatives, with more focus on grant-writing and community annual appeal rather than creating large events.3. Research and finalize parameters of next 3-year Signature project.
