As stated in our corporate charter Founded in 2001 by Brenda and Bill Borden, the purpose of Cool Dreams, Inc. a Kennesaw, Georgia based, Wasillia, Alaska Non-Profit Corporation, is to provide a medium to allow Iditarod Mushers/Finishers to bring the fact-based stories, demonstrations and live exhibitions, to youth and adults alike, of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race, the longest sled dog adventure in the world, which travels though the wilderness of Alaska, celebrating the lifesaving diphtheria serum delivery of 1925 that saved the children of Nome, Alaska, and through those tales of the trail, to teach about planning, goal setting and that through Faith, anything is possible. Further, to educate school-age children on the sport of sled dog racing, including the humanitarian treatment of the animals used in arctic life, and the history and culture of Native Alaskans through a variety of community programs and services and to promote learning about a select group of canine athletes and their participation in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in the classroom, whether it be in the school system or the business community. Further to collect, compile and share knowledge of care and training for the canine sports athlete with veterinarians, mushers, researchers and the young enthusiasts of sled dog sports. Further to provided one such tool to accomplish this goal is to support the Cool Dreams Presentation Experience. The goal of the Cool Dreams presentations is to share with interested groups Bill Borden?s experiences during his 2002 running of Alaska?s Last Great Race and how through proper planning, goal setting and through Faith, anything is possible. To educate children, young and old, about the following of their individual dream and the perseverance to achieve that dream. The Cool Dreams board shall promote participation and coverage in and of the International Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and oversee the educational visits to schools and other forums. The purpose of these visits is to allow youth to experience and learn more about topics such as animal husbandry, the care and feeding of the Alaska Sled Dog and its participation in the International Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and, through the efforts of the corporation, to field a sled dog team as necessary to allow for the aforestated experience.
