The purpose of the foundation shall be to preserve and encourage the preservation of historic buildings, objects and sites relating to the history of Hawai'i to promote an awareness of and respect for all that is historically significant and architecturally distinctive in our State; and through these efforts, to keep alive and intact for the enrichment of present and future generations the inherent beauty of the Hawaiian Islands and its unique historic role in the development of the Pacific Basin.

Impact Summary from the Nonprofit Historic Hawai�i Foundation helps people protect the historic places that make Hawai�i unique by making preservation efficient, accessible and instinctual in Hawai�i. ·      We help people get the expertise they need to preserve historic places in their care through initiatives such as the Preservation Resource Center. ·      We recognize and award outstanding preservation practices through our annual Preservation Honor Awards, Kama�?ina of the Year celebration. ·      We alert the community of endangered places including the annual listing of Hawaii�s Most Endangered Places. ·      HHF Supports legislation that encourages preservation. For example HHF is the co-organizer of Historic Preservation Day at the Capitol, and the key advocate responsible for the City and County of Honolulu�s tax exemption program, which can rebate 50% of property tax for historic commercial properties. ·      We celebrate Hawaii�s unique past because a public that values its history protects its historic places.
