It is Olelo Community Media's mission to strengthen our island voices and advance community engagement through innovative media.
Impact Summary from the Nonprofit Olelo Community Media is the only source that welcomes every O`ahu resident, from keiki (young person) to kupuna (elder) to create and share their unique perspective on community access television and via archived video on Olelo's website. When our voice thrives, so does our community. When we measure the impact we have in our community, we could look at the over 60,000 hours of original local programming that have been created since Olelo launched its operations in 1989. We might site the thousands of people who have received training, or the expansion from a small facility in Kaka'ako to our seven community media centers across O`ahu and our Government access center at the State Capitol. We could probably point to the many government, educational and non-profit organizations we've served. All are measurable benchmarkls of success. However, we take the most pride in the difference we've helped make in people's lives. It's partnering with schools to enable students from previously underserved communities to find a purpose, a voice and in some cases, a career. It's working with our kupuna (elders) to recapture and preserve
