To decrease the mortality and morbidity rate in children, ages 0-19, by reducing unintentional injuries.
Impact Summary from the Nonprofit Provides preventative education to parents about the risks of accidental injury and death to children. Provides safety devices to families in Elkhart County. More than 130 Safe Kids events were held in 2007 with 17,000 total participants attending the various activities. These activities were held in every community in Elkhart County and touched families of every socio-economic background. Target populations included the Amish, Hispanic, and at-risk families in our community. Volunteers assisted with these activities logging nearly 3,000 hours with an estimated value of $58,530. This ongoing exposure would enable Goshen Health System repeated opportunities to get its name and message out to growing numbers of Elkhart County residents.
