1. To eliminate the practice of euthanasia of adoptable pets in Northern Nevada; 2. To find homes for adoptable pets in Northern Nevada; 3. To operate a "no-kill" shelter in Northern Nevada; 4. To provide no-cost and low-cost spay/neuter programs to the citizens of Northern Nevada; and 5. To educate the public regarding animal welfare issues and responsible pet ownership.
Impact Summary from the Nonprofit As Reno’s pioneering “no-kill” animal shelter, the SPCA of Northern Nevada has spent the last 14 years doing a very big job in a very small place. During that time, the SPCA has given over 16,000 dogs and cats a second chance for a life in a loving home, despite the difficulties and limitations imposed by our 5,000 sq. ft. shelter facility on 5th Street. Now, thanks to a major gift from the estate of Stanley Walker and the past and future support of our donors, we can kick off our second ten years by moving to a new facility that will allow us to serve our community and its animals even better. Not only do we plan on expanding our current , , and operations, but we also envision an increasing focus on the under-served needs of our community and its animals.
