JCRC-NY serves as the central coordinating and resource organization in the community relations field for the New York Jewish community. JCRC-NY represents the Jewish community as an active force in the metropolitan New York civic and communal life.
Israel & International Affairs JCRC-NY is building on its successful management and programming of the Celebrate Israel Initiative. This was originally the Salute to Israel Parade. JCRC-NY changed the focus and name to Celebrate Israel, increased its educational programming and cross community participation, obtained financing in order to stream the Parade on the web and have it on TV. It will also sponsored another Celebrate Israel Run with the NY Road Runners as well as sponsoring or co-sponsoring a variety of concerts and events. JCRC-NY updates information on Israel on its website. It continues to work on the issues of Iran - its Human Rights violations and nuclear capability. InterGroup JCRC-NY continues to work with and grow community based coalitions in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. It is in its second year assisting a coalition for NY based Haitian nonprofits, it continues to work with a wide variety of NORCs (naturally occurring retirement communities), YouthBridge-NY , its teen leadership and diversity training program is in its 11th year, This coming year there will be a new leadership and diversity program with some NY college campuses. Jewish Communal Affairs JCRC-NY continues to work with the many Jewish emigre communities in the region. It brings experts to teach the local organizations on requested topics. It alerts organizations about changes in laws which impact on them and provides counseling and assistance. It works with organizations and governmental agencies to ensure that Jewish communal property and assets are properly dealt with upon dissolution and/or sale. Security & Emergency PreparednessJCRC-NY counsels local organizations on security and emergency preparedness issues and gives webinars on applying for federal Homeland Security grants.
