Our mission is to work in partnership with God and people to build affordable homes, empower families, and develop communities. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all faiths and all walks of life to work together to build houses in partnership with families in need.
Impact Summary from the Nonprofit We are proud of all we have accomplished since 1987 to fulfill the Habitat mission in Franklin County. Yet so much remains to be done. The City of Columbus has identified more than 30,000 low-income families with “worst-case housing needs,” and HFHGC receives more than 200 applications each year from families hoping to partner with Habitat to build and purchase a home of their own. To date, we have built 235 homes for hard-working low-income families in need of decent, affordable housing. More homes are in the works as we continue to serve additional families in need. The measure of Habitat’s success is tangible: each house built gives one more hard-working family the opportunity to own a safe, decent, and affordable home. We also measure our success by the observed overall improvement in the neighborhoods in which we build, and we take pride in the fact that a Habitat home is an asset for the entire community.
