Impact Summary from the Nonprofit Founded in 1972, Special Olympics Oregon serves the largest disability population in the state—people with intellectual disabilities. We currently serve 7,000 participants throughout Oregon and aspire to engage with the tens of thousands of others with cognitive challenges, and the families and communities who support them. Awareness programs in our state's schools and in our cities—such as Youth Games and our local R-Word campaign—are inspiring a whole new generation of aspiring athletes and community members to rally around the Special Olympics Oregon mission for years to come.
